Some NLX-citing News!
NLX is making a New Album!
This is the follow up to my last offering… BITCH GET FIT!
It has been almost 4 years of touring, making videos, and writing new songs for this next album. I cannot wait to share these new songs with you!
I adore the process of making music, recording and creating little pieces of NLX to share with you! This time the pre order will include some amazing items such as ‘NLX-handmade’ piano wire bracelets, 7” vinyl, limited edition screenprinted posters and copious amounts of music!
If you are looking to FIND LOVE… it is all here in the new NLX album!
We begin the official recording of the album in mid July at the amazing Waterfront Studio. Waterfront Studio is an 1869 converted church in upstate New York. We will be tracking on a vintage Helios console to tape. This is a rare opportunity and I am chomping at the bit to begin.
Check it out at the NLX New Album campaign at Rockethub
Thank you for supporting NLX and this campaign!
I appreciate your time in watching the video, listening to the music throughout the years and coming to shows!
Please share this video with your friends!
Spread the word… NLX is making a NEW ALBUM!
THE NLX NEW ALBUM campaign will close on Sunday July 29th…
We’ve got a month to make this happen! GO TEAM!
Big Love

Today NYC is sunny, hopefully and full of potential.
I thought it might be a great opportunity to post a recently discovered passage that made my heart happy and inspired some new material....
soon, I promise new NLX soon!
For now, I hope you all enjoy the passage...
I remember Mr. Bartlett. In biology class he discusses the transformation of caterpillar into butterfly. "What's the process that goes on inside a cocoon?'' he asks. "Has anyone ever seen a picture of the insect at the halfway point between caterpillar and butterfly? Does anyone know what it looks like?" No one has or does. The next week, Mr. Bartlett finds a cocoon in the woods and brings it to the classroom. We crowd around as he takes a razor blade and neatly slices it in two. The cocoon looks empty.
"There's nothing in there," says one of the kids.
"Oh, it's in there," says Mr. Bartlett. "It just doesn't have a shape right now. The living, organic material is spun right into the cocoon. Caterpillar is gone; butterfly is yet to come." We stare in wonder.
"Real transformation," says Mr. Bartlett, "means giving up one form before you have another. It requires the willingness to be nothing for a while."

Chapter 2...
I think I fell in YOUNG LOVE with you! A little poetic license, but oh Elvis Costello, one in a million.
Now back to the book of ‘YOUNG LOVE.
Jump (rope) a few months ahead...
As soon as all those early pieces of inspiration and concept became more concrete, the rest was full steam ahead in a Godspeed sort of humor. Jumping thru the ropes of video making was somewhat challenging and I now have an increased respect for the all the people that can visually tell a story with film.
But along for the YOUNG LOVE ride, I had with me THE BEST creative army of dedicated, inspiring and committed people any NLX could hope for.
I really want to thank the full YOUNG LOVE team...
Micha Dahan, Tess Girard, Rob Merrifield, Dana Bondy, Donnie Mullin, James O’Bryan, Lyz Plant, Lisa Cannon and Jason Haney.
I’d also like to thank the hall on Parkdale for so serendipitously not having bingo or a cabbage roll raffle that day/night and renting us the best Ukranian Hall on the planet! Funnily enough, for also being a sort of props department by having empty toilet rolls (which we covered in black tape)that doubled as microphones... It was a small victory in trying to make the microphones to speak our language.
Another thank you is extended to the Lord Renfrew of Holt’s for allowing us to ‘borrow’ the nicest Chloe on the hanger.
If you look closely some $ tags accidentally crept in.
To the fans/friends, who also doubled as the professional artists they are... kudos to Lyz Plant... THE BEST Make Up Artist period. Full stop! She did a quick change on no budget, and even offered up her sexy boots to the shoot. Oh I loved those boots! And Rob ‘I broke my rib and danced/skipped the whole day and never complained or mentioned it’ Merrified. I heart you completely!
YOUNG LOVE took a long time to complete from start to finish... but now is when it begins a second life!
So many people gave so much love, effort and respect into its making and I think that is why the public has begun to find YOUNG LOVE so loveable.
So much so that this next week ahead, Nov 8th – 12th, it will be on MTV!
It has made it to THE FRESHMEN on MTVU!
GO TEAM... GO NLX YOURSELF!
So now comes the part where I beg...
VOTE NLX & YOUNG LOVE!
You can vote as often as you like. A trillion times a day! I dare you! If WE win, YOUNG LOVE could appear in regular MTV rotation.
But in my heart, the experience and the privilege of being part of this video has already been a victory.
GO TEAM GO NLX YOURSELF!

This week, NLX and crew picked up the award for... Best Music Video at the LIC Film Festival!
An unexpected but amazing honor.
Watching all the other videos and artists collectively discussing how and why they made a video was really inspiring. It was like AA for indies and turns out I fell off the wagon... :)
I was asked about how YOUNG LOVE came to be and in telling the audience, I was re-inspired by how it was made... without any big budget, but with a whole lot of heart. So I thought I'd take an opportunity to share in a few upcoming blogs a series called 'The Making Of YOUNG LOVE'.
Enjoy...
The Making Of YOUNG LOVE... Chapter 1
In reflection, the making of YOUNG LOVE seems like a slow and steady climb to completion. It was a labor of love... a sweet, sweet love... a naïve love ... an anything is possible sort of love. A Young Love.
Making a visually stimulating video was instinctually a natural progression for NLX, but unless I could, with complete confidence, execute a vision without compromise, I held off. It was added to the list of to dos. But this time was different.
Jump (rope) back a year...
While performing my ‘living the dream gig’ in a hotel bar in NYC, with microphone/keyboard cables tangled up and in plain view of a patron's way... I was inspired...
Let me back it up even further... A man, let's call him Mr. X, seemed pretty focused on just throwing back a few stiff drinks, and set on forgetting his day, didn’t seem too pleased to be forced into some indie artist’s original songs of hate and devotion thru a portable PA.
Not sure I blamed him... but I tried in an unsuccessful attempt to joke with him... gently coax him to jump rope with the cables... to double dutch. I guess I was trying too hard to make this guy not loathe the next hour of his life... but in doing so, I was hit with the idea of turning these ratty old lifelines that are my quarter inch cables into skipping ropes.
Thus was born YOUNG LOVE.
I like coffee
I like tea
I like NLX
So jump with me!
To Be Continued...

FIND LOVE by NLX
I’ve finally forgotten
I’ve put down my sword
I’ve come to accept that
This weight wasn’t mine it was yours
I’ve got no illusions
I’ve cut through this chord
Got no more addictions
See these veins can’t endure that much more
But when you can find love
If you can find love
If you can find love
Then you forget everything...
...You ever said
Every word that hung over my little head
Every moment we spent
Hold your breath, count to ten, start again
And when you can find love
If you can find love
If you can find love
Then you forget everything...
Hold your breath, count to ten, start again, start again...
